Do you have a great piece in your wardrobe but you never wear it because you’re not sure what to wear with it? You love it, the piece fits perfectly and its a great colour so why doesn’t it work?
Often the solution is right in front of you. Sometimes it’s as simple as playing in your wardrobe and experimenting with what you already have. At other times you may need to invest in one or two pieces to make it work . If this is the case think strategically as any pieces that you introduce should go with at least three other items. If you are buying something to save one piece (unless you absolutely love it), it’s probably not worth the investment.
A big thank you to Joanna for volunteering her ‘tricky’ piece – the snake print skirt. Joanna has lots of great pieces in her wardrobe but we thought we’d also hit the shops to find some pieces that would also be great for transitioning the skirt to Autumn/Winter.
A fabulous snake print skirt from Witchery in cream and brown.
Animal and snake print is huge this season so even though Joanna purchased the skirt 2 – 3 years ago it is right on trend.
How do I wear it?
From casual, smart casual to work and evening (just add sparkles). Even though the skirt is printed it’s in a neutral tone which means that it can be mixed and matched with so many colours. For summer I would combine it with lighter and slightly brighter tones but for this autumn/winter I would suggest plums, deep blues and forest green. As it’s a print, I would recommend pairing it with a plain top. The faux fur vest and croc jacquard are the exceptions – texture adds interest.
Joanna has so many great pieces in her wardrobe that we found lots of items to go with her snake print skirt. My favourite look is combining the skirt with a blue vest and cream beads – gorgeous.
Here are the other beautiful pieces that we found in Joanna’s wardrobe that work really well with the vest.
From L-R: Joanna’s blue singlet and cream beads, Witchery coral t-shirt, Joanna’s brown short sleeve cardigan, Sportsgirl brown boots, Elk wooden beads , Witchery ballet flats.
Joanna and I had a great time discovering more pieces to go with her skirt at Westfield Woden. She may have accidentally picked up an item or two that was not on the list (ooops!).
L-R: SES Beige Draped Cardigan $12.99, SES Brown Singlet $4.99, Dotti Plum Jumper (with tie back detail) $59.95, Dotti Faux Fur Gillet $59.95.
L-R: Cue Croc Jacquard Jacket $359.00, Cue V-Neck Top $69.95, Cue Boat Neck Knit $99.00
