Hands up who felt compelled to go out and buy up a storm in the recent Black Friday sales. Don’t feel bad if you did. It’s a common phenomenon, but it’s often when we end up spending money on items that will become ‘alien’ or ‘orphan’ pieces in our wardrobes.

As an alternative, here at Style Liberation, we encourage ‘mindful shopping’, meaning before shopping out in the wild, we challenge our clients to ‘shop in their wardrobes’ and explore how hard a garment can work across contexts and seasons. It’s amazing how layering things up, and changing up levels of refinement of a garment through different accessories and shoes can get that cost-per-wear down.
